The BCCI recently conducted its annual fitness test ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, featuring the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill, and others. As part of the testing, the board introduced the Bronco Fitness Test a rugby-style endurance test recommended by strength and conditioning coach Adrian le Roux.
In the Bronco Test, a player begins with a 20-metre sprint, followed by 40 metres and then 60 metres completing one set. Each player must complete five such sets consecutively, covering a total of 1,200 metres without taking a break.

The first batch of tests was completed on Sunday, with Prasidh Krishna reportedly topping the charts. While Rohit Sharma also aced the test, it's understood that the fitness program at the Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru included only the Yo-Yo Test for now. The Bronco Test is expected to be conducted later likely during the Asia Cup 2025.
“It could happen when the squad assembles in Dubai for the Asia Cup. The team will start leaving late tonight (early morning of September 4) and have their first session at ICC Academy on September 5. So if the management and the S&C want to do a Bronco assessment, it could happen in Dubai. If at all it happens,” a source told TOI.

With Suryakumar Yadav leading the squad, most of the selected players have already cleared the Yo-Yo Test. These players are now expected to undergo the Bronco Test once the team regroups in Dubai.
